i'm pretty sure it is very difficult. I am also unsure as to if the motor will even fit between the frame rails. might I ask why you are converting to the big block?

My 7,000 lbs. 2500HD with the Allison was running over 85 MPH in the quarter mostly stock. Safe to say it had over 200 hp. If you don't change the fuel filter on a 8.1 every 25K you'll loose a lot of power in no time. Not to mention plugs, etc. The PCM tries it's damnest to prevent the 8.1 from raising hell also. If you don't test in Tow/Haul to lock the converter you'll never get a good reading. Also all the torque management in 1st and 2nd gear.

Tie Rod had his dyno'ed with a CAI, HyperTech, and mufflers and put up 285+ at the wheels.

My 8.1 powered 2500hd 4x4 ccsb with a bunch of heavy crap on it smokes small block and diesel powered stuff all the time. Should I put a small block in it to go faster?
