Default 6.2 Headers Installed...Questions

Just got my Kooks 1-7/8" LTs with Cats and Y-Pipe. I initially installed the headers and had a leak on the flange. I swapped out the gasket for a new Mr Gasket piece. My question is for guys with headers...do you hear a noise that sounds like air flowing that gets louder with higher RPM? It's very hard to explain the sound, it's not ticking like it was at idle with the new gasket but that hissing/whistling sound is still present. Is it just that the headers are thinner walled and you hear more exhaust flow? Going crazy with swapping gaskets. Thanks for the input. I've never had headers on anything before.

Recently installed my LTs as well and kept the stock manifold gaskets on with no problems... As for the "air" noise i had same sound but i dumped my pipe right in front rear tire so now i can here the actual air wooshing out so to speak ... Where does ur tailpipe come out?? If its a leak its usually more of a fluttering sound from my experience ... Always had LTs on my 92 and this is just from my experience

Yes, this noise is normal. It's a "tinny, ticking" noise." This is why the factory manifolds are very thick iron...to insulate the noise, and heat.

I get the ticking noise too, but it is only really audible when the engine is "lugging". Possibly because under hard throttle or WOT there is too much noise to hear it.

Same noise here, was concerned at first but no leaks after a couple of years.

One of my friend's had me convinced it was a leak too after I kept telling him it was just header noise. After a few weeks of constantly checking and finding nothing, I've paid it no mind ever since.

Thanks for the responses. Glad to hear that it's normal because I'm tired of taking the headers off. Tuning tomorrow after I get the magnaflow muffler welded up. Exhaust is stock besides the LTs right now. I'm looking forward to the performance after the tuning. Would love to do a cam soon, but that will be done by the experts. I do most work myself, but I need to find a shop in the Houston area to do the internal stuff.

Did you feel a performance increase after header install, pre-tune ofc...

LMR off West Little York I believe, are THE Lsx experts.

I noticed the throttle response most. It feels stronger, but I haven't run it hard yet. Wanted to wait for the tune to make sure everything is setup correctly.
