When I'm browsing other topics, I hear people referring to us in the South as lucky, as we can find used 6.0L engines cheap/easy.

I live in Fort Worth - does anyone have any good recommendations within a few hundred miles of here to pick up a 6.0L on the cheap? Do you guys just go to junk yards, or is there another source?

Might try Thompson Motorsports, they post in the classified section of LS1tech. While I have seen them selling rebuilt 6.0 short and long blocks, they have awesome deals on iron 5.7 short blocks (bored out 5.3) for $1519.

 

Pipes you pull it in Shreveport, $388 for the long block plus tax and I think the hoist rental. You can get the whole engine, trans, accessories, harness and everything for like $900.

 

I've got a 6.0 block and crank if your interested.
