Default 6.0L build, experts, come on in...

O.K, I have a 6.0L block sitting in my garage, and need to know what is the best way to build a 400ci nitrous beast.
I have been thinking of boring it out, but the more I think about it, a 4.001 bore is plenty for me. If I just change the stroke, from 3.62 to 4.000, that will yield a 402ci motor. I have the stock pistons for the 6.0L, but one piston has a nick in it, and I want to upgrade to better pistons more suitable for nitrous. What pistons can I run?? Can I use the stock rods, or should I upgrade those too? Anything else that should be upgraded?
Heads: Can I go with stage II 5.3L heads, or will I need to upgrade to 6.0L heads? Any ideas on what compression I should be running with this setup? I plan on running a new nitrous cam with upgraded valvetrain.
My next questions are about what what parts will bolt on to the 6.0L from my 5.3L. Will the water pump bolt up? Intake manifold work? Fuel rails, etc. Just want to know what parts I need to buy, or upgrade for the new engine. I have a complete 5.3L that will be coming out for donor parts, just don't know what I can and can't use.

Any help to the above questions is very much appreciated. I'm wanting to get the engine built, then get a level IV tranny and a 3200 yank. Then I'm off to MTI for a full tune. I plan on running 11's by early next year, If my bank robberies go well.

You can click below to see a few pics of the new block.

easy question..

keep the 6.0 heads and get them done if you want.
4.030/4.040 bore
forged rods and pistons

you can pick your compresion with the pistons and if your buying forged pistons you might as well bore it and get a couple more cubes. all the stuff from you 5.3 will work on the 6.0.

this wont be a cheap project, if your on somewhat of a budget you could just get some forged pistons and good rod bolts for that 6.0, that crank is a budget eater. a heads and cam 6.0(.030 over) with forged pistons good rod bolts and a stock crank would be a prety good "nitrous beast"

probably want some head studs and good gaskets too.

Don't have the 6.0L heads, thats why I want to know if stage II 5.3L heads would work.
I'm not sure what it would cost to bore the block out .030 over, but I can buy a lunati 4340 4.00" crank with less that 5K miles on it for 1250.00. If I went with this crank, and the stock bore, that would put me over 400 ci, which is all I want.
If it cost less to just bore it out, then I could do that, and use my 5.3L crank and save some money, but I just assumed that getting a block bored out would cost just as much as a new crank. Thanks for the info, good stuff.

not 100% sure on machine costs but i think it is around $400 to bore and hone, if your going with new pistons seems like it would be best to just go ahead and over bore it. see what others think... i thought you had an entire 6.0

I think total costs of machine labor for bore & hone, assembling the rotating, and balancing the setup will be closer to $1000 when all is said and done. Do a stroker, and just add the crank price on top of that. Plus all the minor parts will add up - bearings, bolts, gaskets, etc... Most pistons you buy will require the rotating to be balanced and most pistons are .005 oversized and will require the block to be honed.

You could use stage II 5.3 heads on a stock stroke, and if you do, pick you pistons with an appropriate valve relief to get a good compression ratio. If you decide to stroke it, the 5.3 heads will probably make the CR too high.

i can get bore, hone, vat and assembly of rotating assembly for 550 here in Fort Worth and the guy is bad ***. 150 for bore/hone, and the rest for assembly etc. provided you supply all the parts in propper condition and order.
