If I am right, and someone correct me if I'm not .. but the Hummer's didn't come out til 02. In 92 GM decided they didn't need to put EGR's on the engines, and this engine has the EGR valve, so it's pre-02 going by this.

i have the money for one just cant find one in particular LQ4 i want a brnad new or very low miled one i have one in mind and if i dont find anything im gonna give in and buy an overpriced long block but im gonna drop it in with just the kit at stock boost for now (Procharger) and some ASMs i dont really want to mess around with it right now cuz i havent had my truck for a long time it was down for a month before it was driven twice and then blown up...i just want my damn truck back!

 

ok for me then what would be the motor of choice? I have a chance to buy a complete 02 LQ4 out of a wrecked 2500hd for 1200. has about 3500 miles on it. will it bolt up to my 2000 4l60e? thanks

What does the LQ9 have that the LQ4 doesn't that gives it the extra 45HP of "umph"?

 

i think it is in the tuning....

 

The LQ9 gots a bit more compression and supposed a slightly larger cam..

 

Can you guys explain "compression" to me if you don't mind? How does this affect FI choices and what type of octane to use?
