Gonzo - Look at the GM Tigh Tech article you are referring to, it was written by the same guy.

I've asked anyone who has a LQ9 head for their head casting number, and every answer I get back is 317.

Just out of curiosity, where did you get that 035 head part number? Was this from a source by Chris Endres? He has his facts messed up on the 6 liter cylinder heads. Apparently, he thinks the LQ9 has a different cc volume chanber that accounts for the differnece in compression. I have never seen an 035 head. I have a LQ9 in my SS and it has 317 heads. The LQ9 out of the Escalade I just sold had 317 heads. I have looked at several 02 Escalades, and the same head are on them. I think the 035 head is a myth.

Hey TeX
This hack Chris Endres list the spec's of the two alloy 6.0 heads,he shows them having the same valve size, chamber size and port size.

Yeah, but he lists one head at 9.4:1 and the other at 10:1. He says the LQ9 head is the "head of choice for max-effort forced induction engines", but its physically the same as the 01+ LQ9 head.
