Talking 6.0 LQ4 Hummer

Guys

Wondering why people arent sticking a LQ4 from a hummer in their 5.3=>6.0 swaps.

Cant find a thread anywhere on someone doing it - makes me think theres a reason ?

Mainly because it's no different than the LQ4 found in the heavy duty trucks. Also the fact that they made like 15x the amount of 2500/3500 trucks and vans so it's easier to find.

So as par as programming, fitment and swapping - exact same as the HD truck LQ4.

I did notice in some compatibility table I read somewhere that the HP was ~15 HP lower than the truck LQ4. Not sure if different intake etc.

Just dont want to buy a hummer LQ4 to find different bell housing or programming or some other expsensive 'gotchya' ... etc Again - just thought it was strange I couldnt find 1 thread on multiple forums. Only guy I saw who did it was subaru in like 2005. But not details.

thanks !

The Engine is the same. I believe the Hummers used a 4L65E transmission so that might be why it was de rated 15 hp.

Well - I know am the owner of a LQ4 from a hummer and 4x4 4WD 4l65e

Since im here asking questions - a few quick other ones .....

1) Best Upgrade for the money - looks like a CAM followed by a milled head to raise compression - sound right ? Theres a lot of info out there but some is 10 years old.

2) 4l65e 4WD trans. Is there much of a market for these - thinking of selling or just pulling out the internals and putting to 2WD output shaft. Never done that before but seems not TOO hard - rmove forward drums, intermediate, pump and such ... replace.

just do an 80e swap and leave the truck 4wd. you can replace the front diff with a 4wd one, and get a different T case to mate to the 80e. Others know the numbers better, but there is an electric shift 4wd case from the 2500 series you can use.

I wouldnt, under any circumstance, neuter a truck by removing the 4wd.

Its going in a 2WD 57 chevy panel. IFS.

No point having the 4WD.

Sorry. I read this thread as you picked up the entire Hummer and wanted to make it 2wd. Wasn't clear to me at first that you just got the engine from one, makes perfect sense now. Sorry
