Default 6.0 Head ?'s

I was thinking about changing out my 5.3 heads to 6.0 heads so I can run more boost. How much boost do you guys think I could run with those heads? 10,11, 12?? How much additional hp do you think? Just trying to see if its worth the 400 or 500 bucks. I know if would to have it retuned. Thanks

Jason

Does the Radix spin high enough to make that much boost???

you could put unlimited amounts of boost on those heads technically. Really without blowing your engine you could put at least 22 psi

The Radix won't generate enough additional boost to make it worth your while. You can run about 91/2 lbs of boost with the 5.3 heads with little or no knock. The supercharger doesn't generate higher boost because your 5.3 heads flow well enough that thay are not a restriction. The loss in compression will cost you power that you'll be hard pressed to makeup, because you won't generate additional boost with the freer flowing 6.0 heads.

Look in the "Internal Engine" section of this site at the top. There is an excellent thread about the head volumes, CR, flows, etc. that may help you answer some of your questions.
Whitt1 is right, the Whipple would be hard pressed to make more than 10lbs of boost. The big drop in your CR with the 6.0L heads would not make up for any amount of extra boost. Most guys that drop the CR are running biiiiiig boost pressures like 20lbs+ to keep from having major detonation. Plus, the overall flow rate would be affected due to "valve shielding" caused by the smaller bore size of your 5.3L compared to the 6.0L 4" bore.

Does this mean that running 6.0 heads on a blower capable of higher boost levels would be a good idea?? What else would be needed to make this reliable??
