6.0 cam swap complete
#1
Just finished with my cam install on the truck. 212/218 114 LSA. I am very pleased with the results both in terms of feel when I drive and the numbers on the dyno. I was looking for overall performance but I didn't want to go too crazy with a big cam because I am running the stock converter and I do tow heavy loads quite often. Before the swap I made 267 rwhp and 316 tq. I gained 40 rwhp putting me at 307 and 317 tq. Do those numbers sound right for the cam I got? While I didn't really pick up any torque I'm just happy I got over 300hp at the wheels since that 80E sucks so much power. The truck pulls harder all over the powerband but I still wish I had gained a little more power down low. I think the only thing to do to wake up the truck from a dead stop would be to change gears. Right now I have 3:73's, how much of a difference would it make if I changed to 4:10's or higher? Should I stay with the stock carrier or would it be worth it to get a truetrac? BTW thanks for all the great info on the site as it really came in handy when I was choosing the cam for my application.

40rwhp from a cam swap is very health. That must have made a huge SOTP difference. I know when I put headers I gained 28 rwhp and it felt like a whole new beast at WOT.
Who tuned your truck? Here's the numbers I put on my LQ9 thru a 2wd 4l60e and 10 bolt (compared to your more power robing 80e and bigger rear end):
everything bone stock, down to the air filter and exhaust: 267 rwhp, 296 rwtq
added ported tb, headers, and removed the air filter: 305 rwhp, 328 rwtq.
those were 2nd gear pulls, which I've been told are significantly lower than 3rd gear, but I can't confirm that.

Truck was tuned for 93 octane. Dont think I'm gonna be doing any third gear pulls with 130K on the driveshaft haha. The place that tuned it is called G-force motorsports in Houston. I wish it made more numbers on the dyno but the SOTP difference especially when you floor it from 35 or 40 is very noticeable with that signature 4 speed downshift. From there it pulls incredibly hard past 100.
