Cammed 5.3 it would shift out of 4hi, cammed 5.3 on a 100 shot or 150 shot it wouldnt, 418 stroker it wouldnt either so somewhere in that additional 100hp from teh nitrous it wouldnt shift out of 4hi anymore atleast with my tcase. With my 420 and 80e it would shift out of 4hi.

I would think as long as tire wear is the same on all four corners & tire pressures is the same.. Let it rip

My valve train isn't "noisy", but I'm wondering if it could be quieter. With my 7.325 PRs, I've got .055"-.070" preload. Would I be quieter with .080"-.095"? I'm logging some KR that doesn't look like KR on the graph. Just wondering if it could be valve train noise.

BTW, I tried launching 4x4 one time and it worked great. I think it was well after it shifted into 2nd, but it did come out. I did 0-60 in 6.0 seconds.

holy smokes, my eyes.... I just read through most of this thread. Great stuff bl!

about that cruise control thing on the throttle body; I ran into the same issue when I bought an OE ported f-body throttle body and swapped it for my stock truck one (TB's are supposedly the same, but these cable hookups are different, either between years, or between f-body and truck). The plastic cable end for my '02 sierra wouldn't fit over the nub either, same as in your photo. I started to ask around for part numbers and this and that, but seemed I had to buy an entire cruise cable, which was quite expensive. I gave up and just never use cruise, was never a big deal, but I would like to get it sorted eventually.
Did you end up grinding yours down to fit? Did it work?

oh yeah, and my pushbutton doesn't shift out of 4hi when launching either, and it's just a cam'ed/stalled 5.3, but I think it's my heavy 305/55/20's probably...

I tested my truck about 5 times the other day and it wouldn't shift out of 4x4 at WOT, and I obviously have a mild setup fwiw...

I only did it once, and it worked. I don't think it cam out right when it shifted into 2nd, but some time after that. I'm turning big 33x12.50 17s too.

I did my 1500 mile oil change last night. This evening I made my first extended interstate drive of 120 miles, non-stop, 70 MPH, 2200 RPMs. I got 14 MPG, and that was a real slight head wind. It might have 15 in it in perfect conditions. Oil pressure never moved off 57 PSI, and temp a little less than 190F. I don't think I could ask for more. I'm quite pleased with the mileage.

Just curious if you've ever sent your oil off to be analyzed before, by blackstone labs or the like?
I've actually got one of their cannisters next to me right now, but have yet to send it back. Kind of want to compare oil use in my 180k mi. 5.3, vs. usage in a freshly built 6.0. Just want to see any differences.

Not to turn this into any sort of oil debate, but are you running a 5w30 weight oil?

My truck with the 6.0 cammed 3400k verter ect will switch out of 4wd when the sensor in the case isn't screwed... It would with the 5.3 too... After I get my front end situated I can't wait to see what it will do on a 4wd launch. I just start hitting the button after the 1-2 shift and it switches right out.

Your build makes me wonder wether to go with the stg 2.5 5.3 heads or the stg 1 ls6 heads

Bringin' back this thread and it's great wealth of info and photos! So any updates, how's she been running? Anything you'd go back and do differently now that you look back?

I'm also really just wondering if you can tell me how you pulled off and pressed back on the crank timing gear??? What did you use?

Oh, and any chance you could get more of those fuel rail spacers made for a decent cost? Just curious. I actually like the truck style fuel rails on the TBSS intake much better than the square rails...
