That's a great deal, those converters are usually $975 correct? You could go as high as a 224/22x cam if you wanted with that converter, but it sounds like something in the 220/22x range would suit your needs better.

They're $945 on Yanks website. I understand that the billet 258mm Yank 3200 is actually a little tighter than the non-billet Circle D 278mm 3200. For only $125 more than a discounted Circle D, I didn't see how I could go wrong.

Glad I happened across this thread. Your setup is pretty much the same as mine. I have bought the 243 heads, starting to pick up the other parts.
2001 GMC C3
LQ4
243 heads
TB converter
TBSS intake with 90mm DBW throttle body
LS7 lifters
LS2 timing chain

haven't made up my mind on the oil pump yet, but looking at the info in this thread.
I'm really leaning away from milling the heads, but I might have them cleaned up, bowl & valve job. What does that typically run?

Did you get it on ebay from SLP? They had one the same price I was going to get but 3200 was a little big for my cam...But will be perfect for yours! I am still on the hunt for a 2600............

Yes, it was the one on eBay from SLP. I couldn't pass up a $945 billet converter for $500 new.

The 243 heads I bought only have 25K miles on them, so I don't plan on doing a valve job. I am delivering the heads disassembled to the shop. They will dip and clean them for $60. They're going to mill them for $80. They're also going to check the valve guides, etc.

Spend LOTS of time on this part of the setup...I didnt!
Under very limited circumstances would I ever use a 2600 stall, and certainly not in the OPs situation. I had a 3600 stall with a bone *** stock cam 6.0 and it could have used a 4000 stall.

I pick up the shortblock tomorrow. I'll be decarboning the pistons, and giving it a general cleanup. I also plan on pulling one main cap and one rod cap. Which ones should I pull? Any concerns with disturbing things? I understand I'll need to reassemble with new rod bolts. Are the main bolts torque to yield as well?
