LS6 cam would be an excellent budget choice. Guy down your way just sold a truck recently to a friend of mine with a LQ4 swap with ls6 cam. Headers, exhaust and stock converter,3.73 gears and it runs neck and neck with my sons full bolt on TBSS that runs 13.10- 13.20. Put a 3000-3200 converter behind it and it would wake it up even more.

Oh that's cool! I probably know him! What kind of truck was it? My truck will be slower cuz of it's size! It's a ccsb... But think I can make up it's size with some really good power adders

I imagine it was with a blower. I ended up with the black s15 he put the 5.3 in. I put a very small cam in it , Comp XE 218/222 112 lsa .535 lift, and a 175 plate kit. Went 10.50 leaving on motor and bringing the kit in about the 60 ft. I really liked that truck but sold it for down payment on some land. Yea you should definitely listen to him. He puts some nice stuff together.

Default stock L92 heads or aftermarket

So the question now is...should I leave the heads stock with a ls6 cam or what options do I have?

I would get Justin to try and round up some 799/243 heads for you. Have them milled to 61-62 cc chambers and maybe have a good valve job done and bolt them on. He usually finds some really good deals on stuff. If you could get a set for $300-400 and valve job $175 + milling you would probably have less than $600 in heads and pick up some compression and 20-30 Hp maybe a little more.

If you plan on putting a blower or turbo on later you could keep the 317 heads . You could have them milled some , but, I think most of the pros don't recommend going below like 65-66 cc on them I think. The $300-400 saved not buying the others could be spent towards some mild porting and valve job. If you decided to sell the 317 I think they go for $100 or so in good shape. Just depends on your goals really. If your goal is the most N/a then I would get the 799/243 heads and then if you decide to go a little bigger on camshaft later then you already have the better flowing heads with more compression.

As much as I would love to put a blowe on my truck i would rather not...for the simple fact that I will end up going all out if i do! I need to keep it some what reasonable! Matter of fact im selling the blower that I was going to put on it! I dont think I could afford the time and money I would have to put into it right now!
I will do methanol thought or maybe nitrous...not sure though! Just for the extra umph!!!
