Default 6.0 balancer issue

Built a 6.0 for my 2003 Suburban that came with the LM7 flex fuel 5.3 Put the 6.0 together with rings, bearings, BTR Stage 2 truck cam, springs, trunnion kit. Speed Engineering headers, new oil pump, water pump, timing set, new Dorman balancer, ARP bolt, I really tried to build it right. Engine has about 7000 miles on it. The trans died two weeks ago, loud bang and free rev on a 2-3 upshift. Picked it up from the trans shop, immediately noticed no ac, saw that it threw the ac belt. ok, only 90 degrees! Got 20 miles from the transmission shop and heard a rumble, but there were three diesels around me and the windows were down. Headed down the freeway on ramp and noticed the steering get heavy, looked down, 11V, 230F. Pulled onto the shoulder, turned off the engine, popped the hood, belt is slack, looked farther down, no crank pulley. Walked around the side and saw it sitting on the skid plate. There is what looks like a small piece of the balancer hub down low on the crank. Bolt is awol.

Fuel cut is set for 6600.

Am I being foolish using the stock replacement Dorman balancer? I see some people using the Fluiddamper pulley on 800-1500hp builds, but this is like a 350ish build. Help me figure out what to put on to get this rig back on the road!

Thanks, in advance!
Mike

Stock one works fine if installed correctly.

Forgot to post, installed with a home made installation tool. Cut the factory bolt, welded a section of acme threaded rod on. Run the stock bolt all the way into the crank, slide on the balancer, then a sleeve, acme thread nut with a thick washer and lots of grease. hand tighten on, then torque on the ARP bolt to their specs with blue Loctite.

Ive built 10+ engines, most for successful race cars. Not a rookie here.

If you have built 10+ engines for successful race cars then we should be asking you what to use. . I run a stock damper on my 6.0 78/75 single turbo at 16 psi with no problems.

I have heard of people having Issues with the Dorman replacements. Slipping on the hub and or fitting loose on first install.

I run OE on most my stuff.

That is good to know! Guess I need to look at the price for GM vs ATI. The ATI was going to be $200 more than the Dorman, but the GM is higher, so there isn't as much difference, might as well get a quality HP part.
