To Wrap or Not To Wrap
#1
Build: supercharged 5.3. Speed engineering 1 7/8” stainless LTs. I’ve found a lot of conflicting info on here about wrap and moisture and all that. I can see wrapping headers for turbo builds, but would anyone suggest it for a supercharged build? I already have the DEI titanium wrap, but after mocking up a bare header on the engine on the stand, I like the bare look better. So, wrap or don’t wrap?

be careful with wraps. ive bought some that seem to shed more than a lab. the ones i last got had lava in the name. every time i worked on the truck i was worried about breathing in fiberglass dust/fibers. ceramic coat also looks much better!

I put 2 coats of hi temp 1200* header paint on mine, let them dry for 24hrs then wrapped them about 20" down from the flange on each primary, and then put 2 more coats of cast iron color header paint and let that dry for a day then installed the headers. Seems to work ok. Ceramic coating woulda have been my 1st choice if i could have done it tho.

Consider most grand national guys don’t wrap, they ceramic coat. Place in Jonesboro, GA called Performance Coatings. Sent my Dynatechs there and 3 years and 40,000 miles later, the longtubes and y-pipe haven’t chipped or anything.
