I was quoted 200 to bore my 5.3 then 50 to vat it after the process. The main thing is the amount that has to be bored off. I think it is something like .125" which obviously means the machine shop will have to make several passes to do this which means they will charge a little more than your standard .040" bore. Each shop will probably be different.

As cheap as it is to get a 6.0 engine in AZ ($700-1200), it almost seems more worth it to punch my engine out, and coming from a 4.8 I think i will see a gain no matter what- cant stand the lack of low end especially in an ecsb.
Which leads me to think why not go with a 4" stroke if all that work was done to bore it out and have a nice 383. Just a thought.

Either way this will be another year or two after Im out of college and have built up the 60e to withhold some of the abuse, and have a real job to fund it. Just trying to get some ideas for a very slow build.

faster times but not the fastest!!!

go with the lq9 i run a lq9 with a stock bottom end and already into the 11's in a ecsb well then again its now in a rcsb oh yeah thats NA motor also

Lq9's seem like the way to go. You get the high compression, and the heads flow better than 243 heads. How much do they usually go for?

and if you want the super pimpy L92 heads and such, it necessitates at least a 4" bore.

im taking the fastest rank back this winter dyno wise i should be putting more power down. getting it down the track as fast as you made it is going to be the problem haha.

the heads flow the same as a 243 head...not better. its basically a 243 head with larger chambers

I wouldn't hesitate to get an LS1 either. They both are great running engines with alot of potential
