Default 5.7 liter performance, mods, help!

hey guys

i got a buddy with a 97 z71, 350, and i dont know too much about how that motor reacts to different mods

if anyone can chip in one what they have done, and what has worked for the, any mods that hurt, or helped, i would be very appreciative, also, is there any track techniques that work with the 4wd setup that could give him an advantage

right now he currently has:

transmission shift kit (brand unknown) true dual exhaust, glasspacks. k&n drop in filter, 3 inch body lift, 4 inch suspension, 35inch 12.50 15 inch rims.

pretty much a country boy setup

theres been a ricer talking ****, and he wants to do some mods to burn him bad, theres some cash on the line, its a volkswagen gti, 85 to 86???? its an older model. turbo, custom mods, its pretty set up.

any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Well its like the typical mods for any other vehicle.

Intake
Headers
Exhaust
Tune
Cam
Tq converter
Gears

He is running 35's with what gears? He should have 4.56s at least. 4.88 if there is not much highway usage.
I personally am running a stock intake still as it seems sufficient enough. However I am running the Vmax spacer which seemed to help and I like it. It is not an air intake spacer but an intake manifold spacer.

After getting all the supporting mods a cam would really wake up his truck. I doubt he would beat the VW if it is runnign a turbo setup as it is a light car. I bet with my 35x14.50 tires I am running high 16s. Im not really sure though, but I can really light up my tires and my tires even chirp shifting into second gear.

Before he races have him put the stock wheels and tire back on that will make a big difference. Definitely needs some gears too. We just did 4.3l torque converter, headers, and single 4" exhaust on my friend truck. Very notable power gain. We also add 150hp shot of nitrous. He went from a 16.50et to a 14.66et.
There's nothing wrong with a country boy rid. I've had more the one truck that sat on 40" tires.

If he has the money.... either turbo or maggie.... cam, tune, stall, and gears will take you a long way though.

this engine def need headers though....

I have a 98 k1500 383, w/ a maggie... gibson headers, and true duals...

it smokes 37s without a thought (4.56 gears )

and it makes riceboys cry
