5.3L swap quesitons -
#1
this 4.3L idea doesnt seem 2 add up 2 me- even if i do get to 600whp or 700whp its gonna be a bitch to drive daily- as i plan 2 do-
im gonna part out the nonbs 4.3L- and see if i can get a couple bucks-
so questions-
1.) is there a specific year 5.3L i should look for?
2.) is the 4l80e significantly bigger than a 4l60e- im thinking either 4l80e or th400 transmission
3.) The main weakness in a 5.3L pistons/crank?
4.) i plan on swapping to ls6 heads- will they flow good enough for 600 to 700hp unported?
5.)would you still piggyback a megasquirt system? why dont you just run ls1edit- because of the price? i dont blame you if its the price thing-

I have yet to see a 5.3 get that high on HP/TQ levels. honestly if you want to make that kind of power you need a full forged bottom end and some serious good flowing ported heads. Are you going to be running the turbo? if so you will have to upgrade the turbo more then likely to gt67 or higher and really will need the most CI you can get. 408 can be done but even some of those guys don't get that at the wheels(NA). The 80 is bigger and their are a couple companies that sell conversion kits. You do know you have to swap out the CPU and hookups, that's a pain in the ***. but to get to your goal if you wanted a DD I would by a decent 408 with forged bottom end and a 8.5-9.0 compression throw some serious heads on it like the AFR 225 or the Dart heads that came out. Their suppose to Kick butt throw in a street friendly turbo cam and make sure the tranny is up to hold it. You are going to have to spend some $$ if you don't want to be pulling everything out and buying new peices again. Do it right the first time and it will save you alot of frustration and $$.
