Default Gasket sealant? On exhaust manifold?

Had Speed Merchant replace my blown out exhaust gasket and they used a sensor friendly blue sealant between the gasket and my headers!

When I called there was no one left to answer my question. Does this indicate that my header flange is warped or what??

And they charged me way too much to boot. Guess I should have just done it myself.

So what's up with the sealant?

it's a fairly common trick with cheap headers to help sealing. with good quality headers and thick flanges it's not needed.
