I think you can use 99-07. At some point they changed from a 24 tooth reluctor wheel to a 58 tooth.

05-06 are fine, and I believe 07 classic also, after that they have the 58x reluctor.

I agree, since you need a mill anyway, might as well upgrade if you have the coin. Used LQ4's are readily available these days...

Just be aware of the DBW vs DBC throttle body issue... 99-02 motors are DBC, 03-07 are DBW. Not a big deal at all to swap throttle bodies though.

Just use everything off of the original 5.3 (accessories, intake, throttle body, etc)

L33 can be had for reasonable money too...if you want to stay with the fuel economy of the 5.3.

ok heres the thing i can get a complete 5.3L from an 07 with 24k on it for $900.00 complete acc. and all.( no computer) i need to make sure i can just drop it in. But on the other hand i would love to put a 6.0L in it but have know idea what would be needed to make it an easy an cheap swap! i pull my race car and many other cars so the extra power would be great. Thanks for all the help so far! Tom-

All that you need to make the 6.0 work is computer tuning, the long blocks are identical on the outside and everything from your 5.3 will swap over. $900 for a complete 5.3 with accy and everything is a great price, but you don't need all of the accessories as your truck already has them
