Default 5.3 W/radix, Heads, Cam, Meth. Hp/torque Guesstimate?

I'm thinkin maybe I can get all the power I want from the 5.3 instead of doing a swap.

What hp/torque would you guesstimate my 5.3 will make with the Radix on a 2.75" pulley, some WCCH stage 2 heads, Thunder Racing cam about 220/224, meth injection? Also would add ARP head studs and rod bolts and some strong head gaskets. Edit... Almost forgot: I'd also change out the Edelbrock shorties for some LT's... probably Pacesetter's like everybody here seems to recommend.

Would that combination get me 500 rwhp/torque with a good dyno tune on pump gas, 93 octane of course.

What do you think about some 317 heads, worked and shaved a lil in order to not lose compression? Push rods would have to be considered but good flow and bigger valves might make good power on the 5.3?

I'm curious what replies you'll get, my setup is similar but not quite as agressive.

i think that you will make 46x/47x. I think that Blown396 make right around 500rwhp with a 6.0 and mods similar to yours. I am sure that Brian will chime in soon and tell you exactly what you are going to make

With the 2.75 pulley I'd probalby go with a set of ls6 heads to drop the compression to around 9:1 so you can be a little more agressive with the timing. And not worry about detonation as much. You could take advantage of the larger valves and a little larger combustion chamber. Milling some 317's would give you the same outcome. I made 445/489 with a 4.8 with a smaller cam and a 3.0 pulley. You should be pushing the 12-13psi boost as I was. With some heads opened up a little and the bigger vlvs I see the 500rwhp a definate chance and over 500rwtq.
Remember though. My combo was with a lot of Meth and too much timing for everyday reliablity. I saw huge gains with timing. Going form 25* to 30* yeilded another 30rwhp.

whatever the final numbers are, it will be strong as hell!

BlownChevy is making 450+ rwhp with a 3.2" pulley, CAI,
LPE GT2-3 Cam, Stock exhaust w/ CatBack, and excellent tuning.

I was previously thinking that I'd do a 402 but I think that a 402 would maybe net about 100 more rwhp than the 5.3 I've proposed here and I"d spend approximately another $4k or $5k to get that 100 rwhp. I think my power jones can maybe get satisfied with the 500 rwhp I can probably wring out of the 5.3.

It's not my daily driver these days either. I just use it for "paradeing" around town showing everyone how dammed cool this ole fart is No way I"m going to street race. My counseling business is licensed by the state and they'd yank my license in a NY minute if I got caught doing anything like street racing. So, I"m doing this just for the thrill of experiencing the seat of the pants power and I don't think I can justify spending another bundle of bucks on the stroker.

I would say you are well +490rwhp..... "So, I"m doing this just for the thrill of experiencing the seat of the pants power" so when are you going to experience the SOTP power and you aint gonna feel it while parading it?? do you go to the track?? that would be the best way to feel the SOTP feel and plus you can post up some times for us!!

The track is Cordova Il.... about 1.5 hours away and it's a pit. Don't plan to go there. I might go up to Byron (up by Rockford) when I go to Carol Stream to visit my daughters but I don't usually drive the truck on those trips. Maybe the grandsons would get off on going with me. I just wanna be able to break the tires loose at 30 mph and scare the poop outta my wife and/or 5 grandsons.... I"m a lucky dude?!!!

I wish I could satisfy my need for speed that easily. I have to have track time and endless carnage before I can say I made "enough" hp!
