Default 5.3 Vortec runs like its Camming or at 4000 rpm with no throttle...

01 Silverado 5.3 Z71 4x4 120k

Changed my rear knock sensor and the harness and now it runs like a, its got a huge cam in or, or b, at 4000 rpm with no throttle and the throttle body isn't open.

I'm about to upload a youtube video and post it as well.

Ideas? So pissed off right now.

chack and make sure everything got pluged back in. May have a intake leak where the manifold meets the heads

Okay now after resetting the computer for awhile, it fired right up and now runs at 4000 RPMs without my touching the throttle. I let it run for about 45 seconds to see if it would drop on its own but it would not.

Sounds like a intake leak somewhere. A good one at that.

Took back apart most of it, tightened everything back down, used a snap on bar to pull the egr line back into the intake manifold so its really shoved up in there, tightened everything back down and it runs about 3500 rpm now.

Is it the intake manifold gasket? I cleaned off the heads pretty well and cleaned up the gasket but it looked fine to me.

I'm so pissed at this truck right now.

What color is the intake gasket??? Are they original???

Did you plug the vacuum line from the back of the intake manifold to the brake booster in correctly???

I am really thinking a intake leak somewhere, at the gasket, a vacuum port not hooked up or something.

what color are the manifold gaskets? the older ones are orange and are prone to leak. the updated one is green.
