Default 5.3 ready for some change

Ok I am looking for some skilled guidance...I am intrested in Heads and Cam....maybe intake manifold if gains justify cost..I am looking for the most cost effective way to get another 50 Rwhp (without spraying larger I would like off the bottle performance) outta my set up....mods are listed in sig....

I would like to do a cam that is nitrous friendly....I am not too concerned with alot of low end torque loss because this will not be my daily driver...obviously it has to be fairly streetable though....Is a Z06 Cam a good choice or will I be better having my own cam ground? If so what kinda specs?

I have been told tons of different things as far as heads go....some say 6.0 heads...some say LS6 heads...and still yet I have heard that the 5.3 head is good up to about 425 HP...(which I will obviously be under off the bottle but probably not on it)...I am sure just doing head work on the 5.3 would obviously be cheaper than the other 2 options....but will I be more restricted on the size pill I can run through because of the hp restriction on the 5.3 heads? ( I am assuming not but need more reassurance)...Will a new fuel pump be a necessity or just a good idea?....

As of right now I own none of the parts..So I am open to what ever the most cost effective way is to create appx a 50RWHP gain... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Thanks in advance

LS1, 6L, and LS6 heads will all lower compression unless you mill them pretty good. Just use 5.3 heads, have them ported, and mill them .030 to up the compression. Your choice on the cam - Comp 212/218 for the minimum.

Thanks for the response

Would it be a good idea to upgrade the retainers, valve springs, or pushrods??

Definitely do valve springs. I'd think the head porter would want to upgrade the intake valve as well. Don't spent way too much money on heads, I wouldn't get anything more than a stage 1 or stage 1.5 head. Do some searches tin the internel engine section of this site, you will learn alot.
