Default 5.3 questions?

5.3 questions
I have been finding 5.3 for around $500. this is in my budget what I want to know is later would their be any problem with the strength of the block when I get ready to bore it! Also are 5.3l heads bored the same as 6.0l heads? Is their any other drawbacks to converting a 5.3 to 6.0

just by chance do you know if the computer and wiring harness from a 4.3l work on the 5.3l if i get the computer flashed?

You can't go to the 6.0L bore ( 4.00" ) with the 5.3L block. Best you can do is the 5.7L size ( 3.905" max ). This does open up lots of doors for engine kits with the bigger bore. I had mine sonic checked for peace of mind and verified earlier results of the max bore. If you do go the route of bore and stroke kit you can also add the 4.8L block into the search. It is the exact same block as the 5.3L with a shorter stroke. BTW the 5.3L has the exact same stroke as the 5.7L and 6.0L, just a bore difference ( 3.78" ). The best cubes from a 5.3L B/S is 383. The 6.0L will give you 408 cubes with a bore and stroke. Plan on around $400 for the machine work and $2400 for the stroker kit. Add in some various parts and you get up to the $3000 plus range quick. There are some great deals from the site sponsors now on short and long blocks. Unless you want the satisfaction of a DIY project ( I did ) the best route is the short block.
I am not sure about the computer reflash but the wiring harness will NOT work on the V8.
