Default 5.3-LS1 intake swap

a friend of mine has a 99 silverado 5.3L and is considering swapping out his intake for the LS1 intake i have sitting in my garage. what kind of gains, if any, will he see?

he will actually lose some i believe! The LS1 intake doesent give the tq. down low like the truck intake does. Plus its not just a simple bolt on, if i were going to go through the hassle of doing it i woukd swap on an LS6 intake.

you wil see some gains but only in the high rpm range like 6200 and up,but you will lose down low tq. it is some work to bolt-on the ls6 is the way.

a vic. jr. swap is probably easier than ls1 or ls6 swap. More potential too.

i'm sure it would be for a setup like yours.

if he's only a basic bolt-on engine, then i see no use in swaping intakes unless it's for looks.

it is a just basic bolt on truck. he is just getting started on modding it. im just trying to help him figure out his options. thanks for the input guys

you may have to heat up the water pump to spin the inlet so the tb doesnt hit. thats what i did and it works pretty well but it is close.
