You guys do know I've been spreading bondo just shy of 45 years

Now you know why I have a rollpan lol

Hey Bud, yeah, Im trying to learn stuff If I do 5.3 with flat top pistons, why cant use 243? what do you mean rework 706 heads. So It is worth than spend on 6.0 it may more gas than 5.3 if I get someone to build me 5.3 with flat top? Can you help me find gen 4 rods and flat top pistons?

Do you mean fuel mileage loss in comparison between 5.3 and 6.0? I doubt you would lose any mpg.

Why do you want flat tops over dished pistons?
On my LQ4 with 862 heads, around 10.4:1 compression which is close to what you would get with flat tops, I get 17 MPG. That was better than my 5.3 which was getting around 16 MPG.

In terms of cost you are just going to have to look around. How much do you have to spend? The forged rods and pistons shown above I think would be fine to run in a daily.

Ah okay I understand. I don't know a lot about forged rods and pistons so you would have to ask some other members.

I would check LKQ or car-part, normally they are pretty good. I have bought parts using car-part before.

2007-2009 Gen IV LY5, LMG and LC9 all have 243 heads and flat top pistons. Compression is 9.95:1. They all run the same pattern camshaft as the L33 but of course have AFM. My LC9 with only a tune makes 307 rear wheel horsepower through the traps in the quarter mile.
