5.3 LMG Rebuild Cam Options
Bought Wife a 165,000 mile Z71 tahoe a couple weeks ago and this morning it started making the lifter tick noise and oil pressure is low and falling fast.
It has the LMG 5.3 and going to order the parts and next week pull it out and rebuild it.
I cant get the 4.8 cams ive been using in the DOD deletes. But i can get get a Cam Motion 206/210 .501/.501 115+5 for a little more than the 4.8 cam. So im really thinking about going for it. I dont see many guys running the smaller cams from them. Just getting a feeler out there to see if anybody has any experience.

Have you looked at the Summit's new Torkinator 200/205 .550/.550 113+4 designed specifically for 4.8/5.3 trucks? It has a 29* IVC and -23* OL @ 0.050. Should make more torque that even the LMG's VVT cam and sound stock if tuned that way. The LMGs 243 heads will like the additional lift, and it's supposed to work with LS3 and similar beehive springs.

So adding two more quarts of oil ruled out the o-ring being the cause of the falling pressure? L33 camshaft is Gen III version of early 2007-2009 LMG motor without AFM and VVT (which those early motors didn't have either). It's a single pattern grind and makes good power for what it is.
That Cam motion grind should retain all bottom end power and deliver enough vacuum for the brakes. I think that grind is an improvement in the one that guy on here Thunderstruck has been running in his truck for the last 5 years or so. @thunderstruck507
