5.3 heads w/ ls1 intake valves and port work, what cam to run?
#1
like the title says, im trying to find a good cam to run on a ls1 with the 5.3 heads that have ls1 intake valves and some port work done....we're wanting a cam that's good for daily driving and doesn't require anymore than a tb converter....and it would be awesome if it could run with ls6 springs...thanks

i dont have all the flow numbers with me but just unshrouding the valve and putting the bigger valve in and doing a valve job it flowed 240cfm @ .500 lift....i can't remember what they were after porting out the port only, havent really touched the bowls much....when we flow tested them stock they only flowed 220cfm @.500 lift

reason i ask about the head work is...
I can have a set of 706 5.3 heads worked with 2.0 intake valves and milled 40
That includes a competition valve job which will increase flow some and blend the bowls
$400
or buy a set of 243 heads which already flow better
didnt know what to do its the same price for either BUT i figured the worked 5.3 head will flow better and bump compression higher

well i know for a fact milling the head is gonna drop the flow cause i milled some l92 heads like -3cc's and it dropped cfm by 10 all the way across the board.....im running the 5.3 head for the higher compression over the stock ls1 head, and just by putting the ls1 intake valve it flows 240 cfm which aint bad at all....
