Default 5.3 head gaskets

Who makes head gaskets for 5.3s other than GM? All the aftermarket ones I see are for larger bores.

I used Fel Pro when I did my head swap.

Thunder Racing and Scoggin Dickey offer sets, but I think most of them come with GM gaskets. Thunder has Cometic gaskets in sizes from 3.910 bore to 4.100 bore: http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...vid=9&pcid=157 I also found some head gaskets on Lingenfelter's site, but it's all LS1-LS6 stuff. Like white mentioned, Fel Pro makes em also.

Thanks guys I'm going to look for the Fel-Pros. Anyone know the compressed thickess of a stock head gasket?

Can't seem to find any head gaskets smaller than 3.910 bore. Is that what I need to use? Seems way to big to me.

The stock GM MLS gaskets are good ones.

I was looking for something with a compressed thickness of .045. The stockers are .054. Will using a .045 thick gasket with a 3.910 bore be bad news on a 5.3?

I heard Cometic was making some for the 5.3L, MLS and different thicknesses even. Try asking for gaskets for a #862 or 5.3L head swap maybe?

I searched cometics website but didn't see anything for a 5.3, only 3.910 bore and up. They will make anything custom though. I'm going to call them Monday to ask about it.

I think the Fel Pro is .043 compressed. I was told that the 6L gasket was .043.
