Default 5.3 Bolt-ons?

just picked up a 2001 shortbox reg cab. has the 5.3 in it.
im looking to get a little more out of it but i dont wanna go crazy. pretty much just bolt-ons. which ones do you guys reccommmend and what give out the most bang for your buck. (been looking at a bully dog triple dog chip module for both preformance and fuel eco. so it will work on my old mans hemi too)

any advice would be appreciated
thanks

First, welcom to the site.

Dont do any hand held tuners, get a Nelson or Wheatley tune. A good tune is a night to day effect. Cold air intake, headers back. (rcsb-reg cab shrt bed)
You came to the right site for performance.

I started off at about 20mpg highway on my Z71 and 16 city.
I now get 23-24 highway and 18-20mpg city with full bolt-ons.

I have a CAI, Headers, Y-pipe, ported TB, and 1.85 SLP rockers.
I was going to go with a cam, but decided against.
I may go with P/P heads to see if it helps, but fo now, I cant be more pleased.

Im getting a tune after my tranny is fixed.

Handheld tuners are crap. Each truck is a little different, and a tuner can bring the best out for you, usually for less than a handheld.
I can get a tune from a local tuner for about $150-175. a handheld is about 300+. Usually, a tuner (not handheld) will give you free updates for a year, so they will tweak your tune for a year after buying it for new parts.

Wow fast reply,
Now as far as these "tunes" go what all is involved. im an apprentice myself but im new to the fuel injection tuning world. Gimmie a carb any day and ill get it singing but im new to the tuning stuff.
My truck in a RCSB and as far as i know compleatly stock. I obviouisly drive it everyday and living in canada and all its gotta be calm enough to run in the snow. not to mention gas mileage.
Im not looking to be running less then 15's on the track but if i can through only bolt-ons and a reprogram it would be great.

Ive also heard of palm pilot based tune programs ever have any luck with those?
