Default 5.3 On A 98 Chevy

I Just Recently Got A 98 Silverado With A 5.7 But I Want To Put In A 5.3 In It, Will This Be To Hard To Do...what All Would I Need For The Set-up If It Is Possible Or Is This Not Worth The Time And Work The 5.7 Is Still Good I Just Think The 5.3 Is Better

you are gonna need conversion mounts, avail. from street and performance, a higher pressure drop in fuel pump, custom wiring harness, custom fuel lines, change the exhaust up. There are a few other things needed, but that will get you started. I think you will like the power differences between the 5.7 and the 5.3. Good luck with the swap.

I would think that the Vortec 350 would be have a little more torque than the 5.3 It has a factory roller cam and everything already. You are going to spend a lot of money and not really have a truck that will run any better than what you have. Not sure that idea will cost out. If you want to put a 5.3 in something, why don't you find a truck with a blown up 4.8 or something like that and switch it out.

For the money and time, I'd put a vortech based 383 and call it a day, but if you have the patience and ability to re-wire and fabricate stuff, go for it and keep us posted.

I would go with a 6.0. If you end up putting in a Vortec 383, make sure to change the intake manifold to something like the marine manifold.

My buddy is doing that same thing. He picked up a 97 RCSB 4x4 w/ blown motor for
$2,000 bucks. Do you know if they have the same trans?? He is wanting a 5.3 or 6.0, but he needs the complete assembly, with accesories and everything else to go with it. Anyone have a complete motor they want to sell??
