Hey guys I'm young and new to my chevy I got a Black sportside regular cab 1500 series. I don't wanna make any major changes. I was wondering if you can put the 8.1 block to in my truck in replace of my 5.3 I also wanna know some good helping hints for additional horsepower with out blowing to much... Thanks.

 

im thinking of maybe doing that and dropping my turbo idea. it seems like it wont take too much work. a little more than your standard 5.3 to 6.0 upgrade but i dont think much

 

I think the twin turbo would be a much better idea. I read about one guy who did it and he had to custom build the front frame because the engine was too big. Plus it probably weighs a lot more than an all aluminum LS1 engine would.

 

Thanks for the ideas... i heard alot about turbo kits but I'm still thinking the 8.1 would be an easier way to go.

 

the only will physically bolt on, that isnt an issue. i think it is about a 300lb increase from a truck small block to a big block

 

There are some folks who make adapter harnesses for your conversion. I think it's speertech.com....... Please keep us posted if you do this swap.
