there are a few people on here planning to go that route right now. as far as i know jason98ta is the only person on the board that has actually done it (6.0L). with a single cab N/A 12's wouldnt be too too hard to get.

i personally think it would be nice to have a 6.0L, maybe escalade pistons, B1 or similar type cam, stage 1.5ish port job, and a converter

Considering you already have a supercharger, going to a 6.0L would be CRAZY. but probably getting really close to where stock parts start breaking

When I was at the Super Chevy Show at Pomona, California, there was a guy with a navy blue single cab stepside that had the basic apperance mods. Under the hood though, he had a Denali 6.0L under the hood. I think he said that he was running low 14's with that setup, not sure what else he had done to it.

"CRAZY" good or "CRAZY" stupid?

whipple has the 99 5.3 with SC listed at 408hp and 486 ft/lbs, the 2001 6.0 listed at 447hp and 548ft/lbs

that alone looks like a nice improvement but i am sure i will have a few issues to get to these numbers, stuff like is my throttle body as big as a 6.0? what about the mass air? probably need some larger injecters, i would think the fuel pump would be ok but mabey not, have to look into all of this stuff.

the tranny will need some work someday but they charge alot of money so i will wait until it is a problem, other things to add at time of install would be converter and headers, good duel exhaust without cats soon after the bugs are worked out. what about a cam?, would i be stupid not to throw in a cam before the swap? what kind of power might i get from a diferent cam?

what kind of driveline loss do these trucks have? i think with exhaust and a cam i would be over 500hp, and still have the heads to do sometime, i would think that would be 400rwhp easy.

I did the engine build-up and install on Jason's 00 Silverado. We built on a 2001 6.0L and used the Caddy Escalade hypereutectic pistons (10-1 compression), and a mild cam. It has run a N/A pass of a 13.5 first time out through stock exhaust manifolds and air intake. We had Ed Wright do the PCM to match, and the programming has been flawless. The truck also pulls a trailer real good, can keep its speed up whereever you want it to be.

I set the clearances to run N20, but we haven't had a chance to run it at the track with it yet. I think the transmission will hate it some <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

crazy is good! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

it isnt too incredibly hard to hcnage a cam though, but if you have the money to do it then... it would surely save you money in the long run for the install

you should keep a look out in the classifieds section for whatever type of cam you want so you dont have to buy a new one

My truck with some N2O nets about 400 RWHP and 500 RWTQ and yes the tranny will not like you <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" />
