Question 5.3 to a 5.7

I'm looking to bore my 5.3 to a 5.7. Has anyone done this. I'm having trouble finding pistons. Anyone know of a good machine shop with experience doing this in the Houston/Beaumont area? Thanks

welcome . . . seeing how this is your first post.

Use the search up top, there's a few that have already done this.

you will go from the stock 5.3 bore to a 3.898" 5.7 bore, this will accept any STOCK SIZE LS1 piston... I'm planning on doing the same thing eventually next year. Whereabouts in Bmt are you??

I'm moving back there in December after almost 6 yrs.

I live in Silsbee. Thanks for the help. I was looking all over this site for info on this mod. I'm planning on doing it soon. I have a 4.8L block. I'm going to need a 5.3 style crank if anyone has one. I've heard they go for about $75. Has anyone ever used the longer 4.8 rods in their 5.7 build?

It would require a $800 set of custom pistons.

I figured they would be expensive. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good set of pistons at a decent price?
