Default 5.3 -> 5.7

Can the 5.3 be bored out to a 5.7 or is it the stroke that changes? Is it worth it?
Or would I be better off with an LS1 5.7L with ported and polished heads? Oh, and when using 5.3L heads, do they have to be milled also?

Im still thinking about what to swap in the truck. I want to have a baby nitrous cam with about a 100-150 shot N2O, bolt ons, street drivability but atleast faster than this crappy V6. The iron block would be stronger but heavier right? I guess I dont know what I want.

I know there is one guy on here that went around 402 with a stroker 5.3 but it requires alot of material to be taken out.

most people go the s/c route with these smaller displacement engines.

The 4.8-5.3 iron blocks can be safely bored to 3.905". Its a good idea to have it sonic tested when going for this much though. You can use stock LS1 pistons and rods with a 5.3 crank to make an "iron block LS1." The LS1 boreis 3.898".

5.3 rods are the same length as the 5.7 as well.

Not knowing too much about this swap but this seems like a pretty quick and easy conversion if you were to have a crapped out 4.8/5.3 block laying around? Probably fairly cheap? What power would you gain from it? Say goin with all stock size stuff but forged to handle a little bit more nitrous?

Or would it be better to go the 383 route?

I got my 6.0L block for 2 bills
Parts to build it how I want it...$5000.00

Thank god for my UA Alumni Master Card!

And yes Justin, forged is the way to go if you wanna run more nitrous...stock internals and injectors and 150 is the max safe point...not saying one can't run more just that I wouldn't do it!
