Default 4x4 question

Im full of questions cause my truck is full of problems. I know this is a performance oriented forum but there is a few 4x4s so i have a question. Im getting the service 4x4 message every week or so and my 4x4 isn't working. The switch works and low range engages and it sounds like the actuator is engaging for 4x4 but i never get any front wheel pull. The front just never engages. No sounds or grinding its just like im driving in regular 2x4. Any ideas. Something does click when i hit the switch it just never engages.

Depending on the year, there have been alot of switch failures on the late models and quite a few with transfer case module problems. There are several GM Technical Bulletins on these.

It's a switch failure 99% of the time.....the switch is like $45 from the dealer and it solved my problems

Oh i forgot the main thing, it isn't the switch. I swapped it out and it works the same as before. No front wheel pull. I was hoping that would be it but no dice. Ill check on the transfer case module. How much do they run. I figure there cant be that much wrong if the low range is working but i dont want to replace everything to find out it was something simple i could have paid a mechanic to tell me.

My 03' was the transfer case module, 3 weeks old hadn't even been off road yet. Covered under warranty though, so no idea on price.............

Here is the latest with the motor off and the key on i can switch to auto 4x4 and you can hear the front actuator locking the front in. When i hit 4x4high i can hear the tranfercase actuator switch the transfer to 4x4 and when i hit 4 low you can hear the motor in the transfer engaging low range. The tranfer actuator has to engage 4x4 before it can go into low correct? So it is engaging 4x4 correctly its just not working. What does this mean can be wrong? If it is engaging the transfer case then the module must be fine so either the transfer clutches or somthing inside is screwed or the front actuator isn't working in the front diff even though you can hear it doing something? does anyone have anymore ideas. I think its bad.
