So with my mildly modded truck I can get away with using same retainers and locks, stock oil pump with maybe a shim to up the pressure while I'm in there, I'le check and see what my gauge reads at different rpm's, ls2 chain only or do I need the sprockets also (truck has 85k on it and has had Mobil 1 since about 5k), and a new set of pushrods. Oh and a water pump gasket, you can re-use the valve cover gaskets. thanks guys great site

 

You'll need two water pump gaskets, one for each side. An LS2 chain is all you'd need, but Yank is selling them with both gears for $68. Both the valve cover and front cover gaskets can be reused, as can most of the gaskets on a LS engine. You could probably even reuse the water pump gaskets, but I would not. You'll need a 3-jaw puller to remove your balancer, and don't forget a new bolt for it. I see no reason that you'd need to do anything to your oil pump. Oh, if you replace the chain, you'll be pulling the oil pump, so get a new O-ring for the pickup tube. I think you'll need the fatter one.

 

I have that Lunati and love it. It has a higher ramp rate then the comps mild low lift, and with a 113 it'll give better torque. My rev's past 6k and still pulls.

 

i also have the same truch and have been wanting to do a came swap, looking at the vinci cam you posted it sates it will work with the addition of 1.8 rockers due to its .551 lift. am i miss reading that or do you hvae to purchase the 1000 dollars worth of rockers to go with that cam.

 

Don't waste your money on 1.8 rockers with this setup. Like I said, they did nothing for mine. You don't need the added lift on an otherwise stock 5.3. The low lift XR265HR is all you need. No reason to reinvent the wheel here. This has been done a ton of times, and the 265XR or Voodoo, or something similiar are all you need.

 

this is a quote from thier web site and is what i was asking about, i do not need or want power made above 3000. i am only looking for off idle to 3000 torque improvements
ALL OF OUR .551 LIFT CAMS WILL FIT WITH STOCK PISTONS WITH OUR 1.8 ROCKERS
if i can fit thier cam in my stock motor without those rockers by all means i will not buy them.

No, you do not need 1.8 rockers. Your stock ones are fine.

They're just saying that you "can" use 1.8 rockers with that cam if you choose to, not that they're needed.
