The 1500's have the 8.25". The 2001+ HD's with 6.0, 8.1 or Max got the high strength 9.25". Prior to 2001 the ring gear was still 9.25", but, the housing was much weaker!

The front axle is about 2" wider on the HD trucks, so I have a feeling you may run into some steering/alignment problems.

It's nothing that more money can't fix.
