4L60 #1 dead.....

Default 4L60 #1 dead.....

Well...its only been a few weeks since the Radix went on, but the tranny is on its way out. Lots of brutal driving, track time, burnouts....and a trip to Vegas averaging 120+ the whole way. Its slippin on the 1-2 shift..and slips when it kicks down for WOT. I was thinkin converter at 1st but im pretty sure its the tranny. Eh...time to tear it out. Is this what I should expect from the 4l60? Run thru em constantly until I do the 4l80?

Is this Todd? Are you still at SEMA??? We want pics!!!

From what I've gathered from others on this site, you will probably keep throwing 60's at it. I would get an 80 if its in the cards for you and be done with it. JMO

killing the first one if it's all stock is tough to go by. it should hold up to a radix and a 5.3 easily if it's built.

just a vette servo added at the time of the radix would have made a world of difference holding that band.thus extending the life of that trans,anyone agree?There have been many a radix's shred even built ones i know.

yea the 1st post was me. I will be throwin in another 60 with upgraded servo, etc...and possibly that yank 400 I hear about from time to time. We'll see what happens

hard to come by, and need a shorter input shaft which means tearin apart the entire thing anyway

4l80 is a overkill power robber in my opinion for your setup. I would go for a built 60 or 65e.

ya think? hmmm. The ultimate plans for the truck is 475/475 at the wheels in the very near future. Can a built 60/65 have a decent life in that enviroment?

i don't see why not. there are alot of silverado ss guys with that kind of power and no trans problems. the truck i worked on for chp has made many passes at the strip and even more wide open street runs without a problem.
