So what are your new plans for the truck?
well i have the old 4.8L on the floor in the garage - i thought was to build a 382 out it, but i am pretty sure my 4" crank from the 6L is distroyed at the #3-#4 rod journal - so right now i have no idea what i am going to do really. I want to build something that will work well with the vic jr and a 650 0r 750 carb setup. I might just toss the 4.8L back in so i can cruise for the summer and work on something this winter....

i pick the short block up with a set of 317 heads from a guy off of ls1 (very legit) and once i got it home i tore it down and put new bearings/rings in its cuz no one knew how many miles were on it. So Im thinking that the bearings could/should have been 0.010 undersized cuz I had a slight bit of snuggness on #5 and #6 rod journals - but #3 and #4 broke! I am also thinking that the bearings on #3 and #4 spun b/c the one bearing that i did find was wore right down to the bass thats in the bearings....whatever it was forsure i might never know-just know that it totally tore everything up. I think that I might go out and tear it down the rest of the way tonight - motor is still in the truck now so I havent seen the insides totally yet...

The bearings are supposed to spin.

Totally sucks. Good luck on the next one.
