Default 408 cam choice

going to be putting a 408 together and was wondering about what cam to go with. i want this motor to have stump pulling torque run a stock to 2000 stall. now for what cam to use would something like a 224/227 or a 230/230 work or do i need something smaller?

I am no cam expert by any means but with a low stall converter I wouldn't go any higher than a 224 if you want the kind of torque that you are talking about. Probably would go with something smaller than a 224.

i'm driving a 408 at this point in an SS and i can tell you that low end torque isn't difficult to achieve. i'd recomend looking for something around 224-228 or so. even with the stock converter you'll have more torque that you'd be guessing from a small block available just off idle.
