Some of you may remember my 4" exhaust thread. https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...xhaust-479850/
I'm still trying to find a quieter muffler for this thing. I'm wanting to know if any of you have used this 4" Magnaflow, part number 12772. How many are catted, or catless, and how many are using longtubes. I'm really considering buying & switching to this muffler, but if it's loud as ****.......well, I already have a muffler like that.
Here's a screenshot from the Magnaflow website.

I have had that one for nearly a year on mine truck. It is still loud but not near as loud as my old setup (pacesetters, 3" ory, 5x8x14 3" magnaflow dumped out the back corner). New setup with this muffler is Kooks 2"-1 7/8" stepped headers, ory, 12772 magnaflow dumped out the back corner. I can carry on a conversation in the cab at normal cruising speeds but it is not stealthy by any means. I really like it though, it tamed the raspy part throttle pop I had with the other setup.
Here is a pic of the exhaust laid out before I welded it all together.

That's what I'm thinking too. I have a 7" round and 12" long in front of my 22" Magnaflow (both 3"), and adding the 7" round didn't do much to quiet down the catless headers.

I downloaded an app on my phone, and my truck's current setup is 78 decibels in the cab, at 55-65 mph when cruising. It's just too much, can't even talk on my cell, and I have to raise my voice to talk to anybody in the truck. Any idea on decibels at cruise speed in your truck?

Tell me which app you downloaded and I will download it and give you an apples to apples comparison (assuming it is an android app). I am currently in the middle of my 8-rib swap but plan to have it completed by the end of the week and can get some data for you then.

Funny you posted this Roger. I was going to order that muffler today and try to put this one in front of it: Magnaflow 14163 Magnaflow Performance Race Series Mufflers
I'll be working on my 4" exhaust this winter. I'm going to order the ARH headers that you have as well. I'll probably go with the cats and try and get rid of some of the exhaust smell.

How big is your current muffler? You could always try finding a smaller muffler to ADD to the one you have rather than replacing it. I would have to go back and look at your thread, but I assume there would be room for a smaller muffler under there somewhere.
