I dont mean to hijack your thread nick but, badz... i have the 99 4.8 also and i was wondering if i should put in a supercharger or an sts turbocharger or N/A cam? I would like some power down low get it off the line better. I dont think ill be getting a different truck anytime soon or want to do an engine swap at the moment or nitrous. I would just like to know which of those would be the best? Thanks!

That sounds like the best idea to me.

Nitrous Express GM EFI kit. 150 Shot capable, around $600. With a 150 pill low 13s are to be had from the 4.8. Remember, just because it's a small motor doesn't mean it can't make power, it's just a little bit harder. But as you should know all Gen III motors (4.8,5.3,6.0) are incredibly strong and can take abuse. As for the trans, well.................

A good stall will help, but a Radix will add a ton down low. Having both will make you poop your pants. Because of the smaller displacement, I went with a procharger, and 4.10's ( and at the time was a 5 speed so I could launch at 4000 on slicks ) to help it shine in the higher rpm ranges that smaller engines need to be in to make lots of power. This is also why I decided to build a 6.0, though. It makes a ton of torque down low and then when it really starts to spin and make boost it flys. The best of both worlds. I can't wait for the engine to be broken in and tuned right. Just accelerating at 25% throttle pulls WAY harder than flooring the 4.8.

150 shot of Nitrous, eaton posi, and slicks will make for some good bottom end power too.

oh man a 4.8 can pull alot of horses if you know what your doing,of course its smaller than a 6.0 so obviously its going to be slower stock, but with the right combo the 4.8 can haul ***. i have a 4.8 and i got it to move

If you have 3.42's thats why your truck feels like a slug downlow because mine does 3.42's blow there good on the highway but anywhere else they suck.
i got 3.42s as well. it's funny when i floor it in a straight line it dogs off the line, then the tires break loose at like 20mph when the RPMs rack up.
