They were 03 04's. Im not sure what gears they had but i have 3.73's. I wasnt gettin killin the ec REAL bad. I would get them by a truck maybe a truck and a half. The last time i went to the track i raced a kid with a 04 GMC sc sb 5.3L with pretty much the same mods as me, minus the headers, and i was KILLIN him all night. Then we both raced this other guy that had a 04 Silverado 5.3L that told us that all he had was the same mods as us, and he ****** KILLED us both. He neglected to tell us about the 100 wet shot he was running. LMAO!!! At first he just told us he had a GIFTED 5.3L, i dont think a GIFTED 5.3L with the same mods as me is going to run 13.0's. It would be ****** great if they did.

my cousins 04 only pulls me by a bout a half truck length its a 04 rcsb base 2wd 5.3
i drove a 5.3 verson of my truck couldnt tell much difference other than it was worse on gas
i have drove some of the trucks with 3.42s however they suck
mines a 01 4.8 rcsb 4wd ls....never run it at a track (dont have one close)but was timed by a friend in a 1/4 mile stretch were a lot of ppl drag race at at a 15.8 cant rember the speed now it was in the high 80s low 90s

both are good running motors imo just not much of a difference between the 2......for heavy towing applications the 5.3 will do a little bit better than the 4.8 with its more tourqe....as for just everyday use the 4.8 and 5.3 really dont make much of a difference and the 1/4s times are only a a tenth or 2 different.....both are good motors

yeah as far as who is faster i believe that the 4.8's only have like 10 less horsepower or so not near enough to compensate for the weight gain on an EC truck but i might still have to say the EC unless you are going just for speed i sometimes wish i would have got an EC (sometimes

i know the feeling that extra room sure would be nice........10 less hp and tourqe is 20 30 ft lbs......the towing aspect is were the 5.3 helps out....the good things about the 4.8 ......insurance is alot cheaper, gas miliage is excellent, and ussually are 800 to thousand buck cheaper
down....resale is also a little lower...and for extreme towing they arent as good as a 5.3......5.3 is more desirable b/c its the larger motor
drive em both and look at the money its gonna cost you to own the larger one if you feel you need the larger one buy it
