Sell the 4.8, put that money with your 1500, buy a 6.0 and cam, springs, etc. and call it done. That will be your best bang for your buck.

Im not really wanting to turbo it either. so any help would be nice.

I did all those bolt ons to get more power which it helped alot. i blew out the 10bolt so i swapped in a 9.5" 14bolt SF w/ factory locker. my budget is around $1500 i want to put into the motor build and looking to get the highest HP for the buck, Id be really satisfied if I could get into the 400's.

As mentioned get a 6.0 and a tune. You can get a nice used complete 6.0 for $1000 if you shop around. $1500 all day long for a complete change over.

You won't be able to get New heads, cam, and a dyno Tune on for that price.

Heads alone start at $899

I assumed we were talking at the crank, and yes like bowtie says you'll need a lot more than heads and cam to get 400 at the wheels.

You can purchase used heads and new cam for well under $1500 and still have $ for tune. I agree with selling the 4.8 outright for a higher mile 6.0 tho. You'll be better off and be able to meet your 400hp goal

i have a 4.8l in it now and another in my shop so Im gonna just build the one in my shop and swap it being i already have it. But ya i agree with the whole 6.0l idea , my dad has one and the power is way better to start out with.

Don't get me wrong 4.8 is a great little motor, there indestructible and you can make some serious power out of them but that usually comes in the form of FI. I've got a N/A mildly built 4.8 in my truck and its pretty stout for what it is. What's your plan?
