Default 4.8l build questions

well i ended up picking up a 4.8l a month ago with 30k on it and before tossing it in my truck i was looking to build it while its out. I'm wanting to do mainly the top end and a custom tune afterward. Any advice on what setup I should do, cam, heads, valves, etcs... Im not really wanting to turbo it either. so any help would be nice.

well its a standard cab long bed 2000 sierra 1500 4.8l 5spd 4x4 lifted 6" on 36's. I have k&n cold air, BBK headers, High flow cats, Flowmaster 3", and a bully dog programmer. I did all those bolt ons to get more power which it helped alot. i blew out the 10bolt so i swapped in a 9.5" 14bolt SF w/ factory locker. my budget is around $1500 i want to put into the motor build and looking to get the highest HP for the buck, Id be really satisfied if I could get into the 400's.

Its probably gonna require double the money to get to 400hp. A used set of performance Heads, Cam, Tune, convertor, and your already listed bolt ons will get you close or skip the cam and convertor and put a small shot on it.

well i have a 5 speed so no stall, but i planned on heads, cam, and tune. What would be the best head and cam setup is what I'm looking for. Cause I have a local guy that does an excellent dyno tune. And 400hp would make it sweet but 350hp would be nice

Look on Texas speed site to the right, they have awesome head and cam packages. Bolt on right out of the box.

Give them a call and they'll spec out a set up that will best fit your needs and goals

You mean 400 at the crank I assume? You wont make 400 to the wheels with a 4.8 without boost, especially with 36" tires.
