My '02 4.8 was 5700? My LS1 still is because I haven't tuned it yet. If you compare exact body configurations and gears the 5.3 is about .5 quicker, I've seen it at the strip several times, including mine when it was stock.

My stock 2001 4.8 shifted at 5600 on the 1-2 and 5200 on the 2-3. Now thanks to HP Tuners it shifts out of 1st at 5900 and 6000 on the 2-3 with 50% torque management removed. Made a TON of difference doing just those two things

so can i shift at 6500 1-2 and 6000 or 6500 2-3? what do lyou rec?

6500 is way to much unless you have a cam, mine is 6400 1-2 shift, and 6300 2-3 shift. On the stock cam I would say no more than 5900-6000.

In that case I wouldn't go any higher than what I have. And to answer your other question, you would be better off with a RCSB 4.8L because and the weight difference.
