OK, I'm seeing something here. There seems to be quit a few of the 4.8 owners here. Give me your thoughts on the 4.8 vs the 5.3 and why you got it. Try to back it up with some tech info. I'm going to try and put together a few facts and myths between the two.

 

My gf(or her dad) got the 4.8 bc it was the cheapest V8 and she wanted a V8 and i like it bc its a challenge to make it run 13s low 14s N/a

Nope, they don't like that at work. I've been thinking about it at home though.

 

one thing i dont like about the 4.8 is the torque loss compared to 5.3L. that extra 1/2 litre of displacement gives a whole lot of torque

 

I chose the 4.8 as chevy does not offer the 5.3 with the manual tranny.

i had to get the 4.8 because my dad wouldnt let me get the 5.3. he thought i would be racing all the time. but i do anyways now.
