will the 5.3 pcm run the 6.0 or will you have to get a custom tune?

It will run on the 6.0 tune. But I cant say how well. It will run till you get a chance to get it tuned in.

Mine ran OK with the 5.3 computer. It runs GREAT with a custom tune. I wouldn't recommend the swap without a tune.

I had to drive mine home about 2 hrs with the stock 4.8L tune. With all the work I had done to the truck at one time, it ran like CRAP home. I was having to use the brake pedal like a clutch and steady get on the gas to keep it running at red lights. Out on the highway, it ran fine. Of course, this was with the cam, heads, and other goodies installed, not just a stock 6.0L.
You'll want a tune either way!!!

Done thousands of times. The 6.0 will drop right in and fit like a glove. The only issue is the 4.8 PCM will need a 6.0 tune.

Possibly a wire harness / engine connectors due to differences. Definitely a tune to account for VATS (Vehicle Anti Theft System) and differences in cylinder volume. A 6.0 engine in good condition is tougher to find and more expensive than a 5.3 liter. Possibly a different flex plate.

Just curious if you had done the swap and how it went.
