i just recently purchased a 4.8 silverado single cab short bed.i expected it to be a bit faster than what it is now.my ex fiancee had a 2001 5.3 single cab short bed and when i took that to the track that thing would run consistent 9.50 in the 1/8 mile...now that i have this 4.8, im starting to think her truck wasnt stock?i took mine out to the 1/8th mile and it ran a miserable,embarrasing 10.80!!

the truck seems to really have the best sop feel at about 2000 rpm lunge,and a really good top end,but no low end?ive been reading through various sites and was just wanting to know what times should it be running, or is that normal?i hope not...

i got a 4.8 in mine and that is what it ran stock. now i got it down to 9.8's.

 

sorry to imform you, but thats about normal...
but dont fret....
the 4.8L can be a menace to deal with, if built up correctly
If I remember I have had my 4.8L in the 8.80's in the 1/8th, all motor

 

not sure of the ET but 4.8's suck off the line. they pull up top.

a stall would wake that thing up.

What gears do you have? Having 3.73's in mine made a big difference over the 4.8's I've driven with 3.42's. Just got a little traction problem though.....

Sounds like it is time to start modding!

 

Don't worry, my 5.3 has no nuts down low either....4.10's and a 408CI stroker 6.0L hopefully will cure my problems.....
