I havent seen an ls1 intake up close
but if the injectors bottom out Its not hard to pull the caps and put Orings on
Im not sure on the LS1 but for the LS6 they bottomed out

or you could just run 97-98 vette fuel rails and use car injectors
you'll need pigtails also
and do away with the need for those FR bkts

with DBW the speartech bracket won't work
you will need one like pictured in my thread

the truck water pump wont work with DBW
its shaped alot different than a cable driven
so cutting the neck and 90ing it over wont work
It will still hit

or you could do like quik and go all car accessories and crank pulley
no doubt thats the quickest/easiest way

I didnt experience any loss any where
heres my results thread FWIW

I used the truck intake and dbw and got it to work. It was a PITA but it works. The pulley is still too close to the belt but it clears... barely. Speartech had theirs clearing more, I just quite because it was the 4th time I had to cut and weld it and got burnt out.
Here is mine. I used the Speartech relocation bracket and an expandable rubber freeze plug to plug the old water neck hole.

Here is what Speartech did.

I basically copied everything they did. It was a pain in the *** moding that water neck since it presses in and I had to use jbweld to get it to seal since I pressed it in and out so many times. If I was to do it again I'd get a 1" or so pipe thread hose fitting and thread it straight in and have it come straight out like the car neck does. It looks like it would clear if you angled it down slightly when you drilled and tapped the new hole. Heck, it looks like it might clear the belt without angling it. Here is the whole Speartech thread.

Speartech LS1 intake swap

yeah I bet that was a pain in the ***

damn thats tight
yours looks alot closer than what speartech done
just hard to tell without the hose on

I guess im wrong on that one
I tried it but it was just easier for me to make my own bracket and space the WP

anyways

have you seen the fittings from mezieree?
might could use something like that for what youre thinking
If I remember right they have them in npt threads too
those huge taps are available on ebay all the time

That is what i would do if I was to do it again. In order to get the new hole to close enough precision to press the neck back in you will have to interpulate it on a cnc mill or a boring head on a manual mill, a rotary table will work as well. Otherwise you will using JB weld like I did. Also when you weld the neck back up it really needs to be TIGed due to the thin metal and not having pin holes with the MIG. I MIGed mine and fought the pin hole issues . The weld ended up looking like a bunch of gobbled up by the time I got done. My 220v welder won't turn down low enough to keep from burning through. Seriously though, look into the Mezieree fittings They will keep you from spending the better part of 2 days on the crap like i did

So, I guess that the cable tb (2002 turck) will clear the water neck??? I was looking at mine last night and I think if I just turn the neck alittle more to the passenger side of the engine bay, it looks like it will clear. Also, what about the fuel system.....is mine returnless system? If it is or isn't a returnless system, how do I fab up the new fuel system? I can put different o-rings on my stock injectors but if I need bigger injectors, what kind to get so I can use my stock wiring harness and plugs(running with the devil said I could use the Ford 42# injectors that will fit the LS6 intake and fit the stock truck injector plugs on the wiring harness)? Can I reuse my truck coils on both sides??

Sorry for all of the stupid questions but I want to do this mod bad!!

Thanks,

James

I think you may still have to cut it from what Ive read
not sure on that though

yours should be a return system

97-98 vette fuel rails
or use the existing rails and make brkts

I dont know about the ford 42lb'ers
sounds interesting though
do you know what height they are by chance?

I had no issues with the coils on mine

02 like mine is return. 97/98 is return like ours. all other years are returnless. to use car injectors you need the plugs. and youcna get them off a 4banger of fbody. if you need plugs you cna do two ways call and buy them or PM pewterssz and see if he can set you up with 8 plugs like i did
